How to Alter the Air Filter of a Chevy Cobalt

The air filter in the Chevrolet Cobalt prevents debris from getting into the engine air intake arrangement. Chevrolet recommends inspecting the air filter every time the oil is changed or other maintenance is performed and replacing if it is clogged or excessively dirty. The filter should be replaced at least every 50,000 miles. Chevrolet does not recommend cleaning the air filter with compressed air, equally this could harm it. A clean air filter improves air flow to the engine and increases engine performance.

Step 1

Turn off the engine. Open up the hood.

Step 2

Locate the air filter housing on the passenger side of the engine compartment.

Step 3

Loosen the screws on the clamps that hold the air outlet duct in place. Remove the air outlet duct from the air filter housing.

Step four

Unlatch the two clamps that hold the filter housing cover in place. Pull upward on the front of the filter cover and pull it out to remove information technology.

Footstep five

Remove the sometime filter.

Stride 6

Wipe all grit from the within of the housing with a clean, damp cloth.

Step vii

Install a new filter in the filter housing.

Step 8

Reinstall the filter cover. Latch the clamps to hold the encompass in place.

Reattach the air outlet duct. Tighten the screws on the clamps to secure the duct in place.
