P.S. This works on all of the Octolings too!

If you lot're yet having trouble customizing, let me know what your problem is in the comments. I could help you fix your problem and I enjoy helping others with SFM.

Irresolute your Inklings colour

I suggest that before you truly start to customize your Inkling (equally in dressing it and irresolute hairstyle) yous should change its color beginning. To do then, nosotros are going to employ material overrides. Don't worry I'll bear witness how to use them, just pay shut attention, for misusing them could really mess things upward. Now, earlier you tin employ textile overrides, you need to use them outset. Doing this is very uncomplicated, Only right-click the Inkling in the Animation Ready Editor and press "Add Textile Overrides." The material overrides have now been applied to the Inkling. Right-click the Inkling once more, and this time, head to show in Element Viewer and press "Model". This will take to the Element Viewer.
Now, press + next to materials at the bottom and a sub-list of objects will announced. These are the objects of their colors yous'll want to change. Permit's showtime with the teamcolor commencement (This will change the eyebrows and pilus if not changed nevertheless). Press the plus side by side to information technology and you will see a colored box in its sub-list. Printing that, and you will now be taken to what I call the "Color Editor". Here, you can either drag the boxes you run across in the rainbow boxes, or, if your an avant-garde user, you tin blazon in the numbers of the color you want it to be beneath the rainbow boxes. Repeat the same process for the other objects.
P.S. You'll but want to alter the teamcolor, pilus, and mouth (Underwear is optional)

Changing hairstyles

To perform this, I reccommend FissionMetroid101'due south Enhanced Inklings.
Although you most probable are already using these, I just want to brand certain. Yous will need to utilize the alt model. Now before you ask what those are, have a wait at all the names there are for these Inklings. Each of these names are all different models. You'll want to use the ones that have alt in their names. PAY Close ATTENTION TO THE NAMES! If the name has ik/alt in it, changing the pilus will not work.
To modify the hairstyle, just follow what this person did:
https://youtu.exist/E0-fKmbVIl8
For those of you who did not get the video, what this person did was they used the alt model of Inkling Girl and brought in the hairstyle they wanted to replace the original hair with. Detect in the Animation Fix Editor, they dragged the new hairstyles' bone that said "bip_head" to Inklings bone of the aforementioned proper name? They did that so they tin can lock the hairstyle to the Inkling via Zero Slider. What they did next was shrink the tentacles of the old hairstyle. You can practice this past heading into the "Unknown" function of the Inkling in the Animation Set Editor, right-clicking the offset bone of the hair, or in this case, the hair band root, pressing "Add together Calibration to Transforms", scroll down to the bottom of Unknown and here, you should run across the scale control of tentacles. Click on that, and on the surface area beneath the Zero Slider, yous should come across a slider of the scale control you selected. Drag that all the way to the left to shrink the tentacle to the point where information technology disappears. Repeat the process for the other 1.
Side by side upwardly, the person used material overrides to truly get rid of the erstwhile hairstyle. This requires using fabric overrides. Repeat what you did to become to the element viewer and scroll down to materials. This time, you lot are going to add a new attribute. Right-click "Teamcolor_alt", head to "Add New Attribute" and press "float". You will be presented with a box that says "addNewAttibute". You'll want to replace that with "$blastoff" (no quotation marks) and your Inklings onetime hairstyle should disappear completely. If you want to modify the color of the new hairstyle, you already know what to do but this fourth dimension, use the material overrides on the new hairstyle, not the Inkling.
If you have no hairstyles:

Re-texturing your Inkling

We're non washed notwithstanding with customizing your Clue. Let's suppose you lot want to change the eye color or requite it different eyebrows. Doing this will also crave cloth overrides. Allow'southward get-go with the eyes.
You should already know what to practice at this point with material overrides, so I'll cut directly to what you want. Right-click one of the eyeballs, hover onto add attribute and printing "string" Type in $iris and the selected heart should get a pink-and-blackness checkerboard blueprint, merely y'all want this to happen. Now, in the empty space next to $iris re-create and paste 1 of these:
Blue: models\props_splatoon\inklings\inkling_eye_blue
Violet: models\props_splatoon\inklings\inkling_eye_violet
Greenish: models\props_splatoon\inklings\inkling_eye_green
Orange: models\props_splatoon\inklings\inkling_eye_orange
Yellowish: models\props_splatoon\inklings\inkling_eye_yellow
Pinkish: models\props_splatoon\inklings\inkling_eye_pink
Gray: models\props_splatoon\inklings\inkling_eye_gray
Brown: models\props_splatoon\inklings\inkling_eye_brown
Octarian: models\props_splatoon\octolings\octoling_eye_octarian
If you don't want any of these eyes try one of these:

If none of these fit what your looking for, than your going to have to look yourself. Now, on to the eyelids.
Repeat what you did to change the eyes, except this fourth dimension, press the eyelid and, while adding new attribute, type in $basetexture. The eyelids should now take a pink-and-black checkerboard design.
If y'all didn't get this then watch these videos:

For that last one you don't have to go through your files, just use the eyelids I supported you lot with.

Change pare tone

You can change the pare tone of your Inkling. Right-click it in the Animation Set Editor and hover over to "Set Pare". This is where you change the skin tone. 0-1 is lightest, only 1 has freckles. 2-8 the skin then starts to darken. 9 is the Inkling's original ink color.

Avant-garde customization

Thought to make this section comes from AlphaFire!

AlphaFire!'south profile
Here's some advanced customization. Let'due south suppose you want to make a sanitized Inkling or Octoling. To do so requires textile overrides again, but this time we'll use the color aspect on the body and eyelids. Allow's exercise the torso first. Blazon in $color2 and the body should turn black. At present press the plus symbol and there should be a black box. Utilise that box to alter the color of the Inklings body. Once satisfied, rinse and repeat for the eyelids. Also, you could also use this aspect on anything you wish to change the color of, allowing even deeper customization.
Only what if you lot want to make a raging Inkling or Octoling similar the one below: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1829881684
Just difference is you've changed the skin tone of the Inkling/Octoling and the colour attribute is not working. This is when all those other materials saying body2 and all that come up to utilize. Yous see, the number side by side to all of those materials are for the skins. body4 is for skin iii, eyelid7 is for skin half-dozen. Then if you've always plant yourself trying to change the eyelids if your Inkling after you've inverse the skin and it appears to be doing zilch, that's considering you're calculation the attribute on the incorrect eyelid! Yous're adding the attribute to the default peel. Y'all have to add the attribute to eyelid with the number matching the skin tone number.
I promise this guide was helpful to yous, allow me know in the comments!
